How it works

What Coast does, and how.

Coast connects to your Canvas and runs inside your own Claude or ChatGPT account. Every night it prepares the week; every morning you decide what stays. ← Back to the community

Your time, back

Coast does the preparation.
You do what matters to you.

What Coast does, every night

Your classes

  • Every class, room and deadline from Canvas on your calendar
  • Study blocks before every exam
  • Grades and attendance for each class, in one place
  • Each professor’s contact under their class

Studying

  • Notes and a practice quiz for each new chapter
  • Your recorded lectures turned into notes
  • Each week summed up on one page
  • Flashcards that come back before you forget them
  • A mock exam a week before each real one

Assignments

  • A first draft of each assignment, with the course’s AI policy on top
  • Maths typeset, code as a source file
  • Nothing submitted: you rewrite it and hand it in

School mail

  • Your school mail read every night
  • What concerns a class, and what to do about it
  • Replies drafted for you to send

  • Ask about your week, a class or a deadline, from any page
  • Have Finn run now, mark work done or grade your flashcards
What you do with the hours
  • Learn a skill that isn’t on any syllabus
  • Build the project you keep putting off
  • Start the business
  • Train, play, make something
  • Show up for your people
  • Sleep the night before the exam

What it does

Set up once.
Three jobs leave your evening.

Sign in, add one Canvas token, connect Claude or ChatGPT. After that, it runs every night. Inside Claude and ChatGPT →

Your calendar

Your calendar keeps up with Canvas.

Classes, rooms and every dated assignment, read from Canvas and your syllabi and put on your calendar. When a deadline moves in Canvas, it moves on your calendar. Study blocks appear 14, 7, 3 and 1 days before each exam.

Never over a class, or Shabbat if you say so
Notes and quizzes

One chapter. One set of notes. One practice quiz.

When your professor posts a chapter, Finn writes its notes and a quiz overnight, ready before the next class. A mock exam arrives a week before each real one. Flashcards come due in Review.

Every note downloads as PDF or Word
First drafts

Finn prepares a draft. You decide what stays.

Each assignment gets a first draft, with the course’s AI policy quoted at the top. Maths comes back typeset, code as a source file. You rewrite it, and you hand it in.

Drafts, never submits
Questions

Where the line is,
and where your data goes.

Coast prepares. You decide. Here is exactly where that line sits.

No. Every draft stays in your Coast account, labelled as a draft. Nothing reaches Canvas unless you put it there.

Each draft opens with your course’s AI policy, quoted from the syllabus, so the rule is in front of you while you rewrite.

Only a course’s shape: its syllabus, meeting times, posted slides and deadlines. Never anyone's work, grades, notes or drafts.

In your Coast account. Your Canvas token and any Google access are encrypted, with the key kept outside the database. You can revoke either at any time.

In your own Claude or ChatGPT account. Coast doesn’t run the model. Whether your chats are used for training is a setting in that account.

Yes, from Settings. You get an export first, then everything private is deleted.
